Central Europe regulators push for 2008 published power data

8 October 2007 - Central and eastern European energy regulators have called for power transmission system operators (TSOs) in the region to publish key market data online by 1 March 2008 in a report on transparency.

The report has been developed as part of the European Regulators Group for Electricity and Gas' (ERGEG) regional power initiative, which aims to integrate the power markets in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.

The energy regulators of these countries are recommending that TSOs publish at minimum data on load, transmission, interconnection and balancing on their national websites and/or on local power exchange websites by 1 March 2008.

The regulators are also calling for this data, mostly aggregated, to be published on a common European website by 1 January 2009.

TSOs should also have until 1 January 2009 to publish generation data on their websites or those of power exchanges, said the regulators, as it would take some time to set up the data delivery process from the generation and demand units connected to the distribution grids.

Interested parties are invited to comment on the report by end-October. A copy is available on the Ergeg website, www.ergeg.org, under public consultations in the central-east regional power initiative section.

Last month the regulators in Ergeg's northern regional power initiative, covering Germany, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, called for TSOs in those countries to publish online load, transmission, interconnection and balancing data by 1 January 2008, and generation data by 1 July 2008.
