Gregoire approves Kittitas County wind farm

Gov. Chris Gregoire has approved a new central Washington wind farm. The proposed Kittitas Valley Wind Power Project would build about 65 wind turbines in an area about 12 miles northwest of Ellensburg, Wash. The Kittitas Valley project is expected to generate between 100 and 150 MW of electricity, with a conservative cost estimate of at least $150 million. The wind farm is slated to be operational by early 2009.
