Alstom wins long term service contract in India

13 September 2007 – French power equipment supplier Alstom has won a service contract from the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation in India to maintain the Ultran power plant. This is the fourth service contract Alstom has secured in India.

The 15-year deal covers maintenance and the supply of parts for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the Alstom GT26 gas turbines and associated electrical generator, auxiliaries and controls.

In April 2007, Alstom was awarded the EPC contract for construction of the Ultran 370 MW power plant, which is the first Alstom GT26 gas turbine-based combined cycle power plant to be built in India. This plant will be an extension of the existing 135 MW combined cycle plant located at Ultran and is due to go into commercial operation in August 2009.
