Bahrain mulls 4000 MW power plant

6 September 2007 - A new 'superplant' to boost Bahrain's power and water supplies is being considered by the government, according to local reports.

A Bahraini cabinet meeting on Monday, chaired by Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, studied plans for the mega project.

It will significantly expand electricity and water infrastructure, and inject an initial 4000 MW into the power grid along with 90m imperial gallons of water daily.

A memo on the scheme has been referred to the public utility ministerial committee for further study.
