Russian power grid operator says first stage in reorganization completed

5 September 2007 - Unified Energy System of Russia (UES) has completed the first stage of its reorganization. The Federal Tax Service has registered OGK-5 Holding and TGK-5 Holding (the fifth wholesale and the fifth territorial generating companies) said UES.

According to ITAR-TASS, the transformations did not entail extra expenditures and the selling of UES stock continued. The second phase of reorganization will last through 30 June 2008 and the UES will divide into generating, transmitting and selling companies.

OGK-6, TGK-14, the Federal Network Company and HydroOGK will remain under governmental control. They will become the owners of the company assets instead of UES.
