Chinese ultra-supercritical coal unit trial completes successfully

5 September 2007 - Huaneng Power International has announced that a 600 MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired generating unit (Unit 3) at Huaneng Yingkou Power Plant has completed a 168-hour trial run.

Unit 3 at Yingkou Power Plant is the first domestically-made ultra- supercritical coal-fired generating unit having a generating capacity of 600 MW.

The smooth operation of Unit 3 marked China's progression to a new stage in the design, manufacturing, installation and testing of 600MW generating units. To date, the Company's total generation capacity on an equity basis has increased from 28 187 MW to 28 787 MW.

Huaneng Power International develops, constructs, operates and manages large-scale power plants in China nationwide, with a total generation capacity of 28 787 MW on an equity basis and a total controlling generation capacity of 32 824 MW.

huaneng Power wholly owns seventeen operating power plants, and has controlling interests in twelve operating power companies and minority interests in five operating power companies. Currently, it is one of the largest listed power producers in China.
