The Babcock & Wilcox Company opens next generation research center

The Babcock & Wilcox Company has opened a new Research Center in Barberton, Ohio, to concentrate on the next era of steam generation and environmental control technologies, including the capture of CO2 emissions from coal-fired power plants.

The new Babcock & Wilcox Research Center will test integrated combustion and environmental controls, evaluate advanced materials for super- and ultra-supercritical boilers, conduct further studies for flue gas desulphurization systems and mercury oxidation and enhance research in the complex science of coal combustion. A high-resolution scanning electron microscope will improve research in catalyst technology and metallurgy.
