Eaton’s SENTINEL Filter Bags meet the requirements of liquid filtration applications that have a zero tolerance for filtration by-pass. These bags are manufactured using a fabric welding technology, instead of sewing. Because they are not sewn, there are no sewing needle holes in the filter media that could allow unwanted particulate matter to by-pass the filter bag. Eaton’s welding technology produces a filter bag with a welded seam and shapes the bag to conform to the internal shape of the filter basket to prevent bag failure. The welded seams are bonded to prevent fiber migration downstream. Every SENTINEL Filter Bag comes standard with a plastic ring that makes a secure, by-pass free seal between the filter bag and the filter housing. The ring fits into the filter housing in a unique manner that provides a positive, self-energized seal in the housing that restricts the process media from bypassing the filter bag. The design of this seal creates a constant pressure to prevent the ring from collapsing into the filter basket. This product is available with either polypropylene or polyester construction in both double length, 7 x 32 inch number 2 size, and single length 7 x 16 inch number 1 size, to fit filter housings from most manufacturers. RASIRC has introduced the RainMaker Humidifier, a device that controls the transfer and purification of water vapor directly into a carrier gas stream. With the RainMaker, controlled and purified vapor can be delivered into most carrier gases--including inert, corrosive, and flammable gases such as hydrogen--at a wide range of flow rates. This product consists of a non-porous, hydrophilic Teflon membrane that excludes particles, micro-droplets, volatile gases and other opposite charged species from being transferred to the carrier gas and ensures only water vapor is added. The membrane is designed to select only the source gas molecules. Because the RainMaker works on 100 percent saturation of the carrier gas, the system can be cycled on and off without significant effect on accuracy. The membrane assembly has no epoxies or adhesives and can tightly regulate relative humidity (rH) by controlling water supply temperature. Constructed of 316L stainless steel and Teflon, the RainMaker is designed for high purity applications. RASIRC Circle #306

Dresser-Rand’s Steam Turbine Strategic Business Unit recently completed production and testing of the largest single-casing steam turbine ever produced by the company. The unit is a 69-MW steam turbine measuring 24 feet in length. When coupled to the generator, the length of the unit measures more than 49 feet. It is a double-controlled extraction/condensing turbine that will be used to generate power by a major paper manufacturer in the southeastern United States. Steam for the turbine will be generated by a boiler fired by tree bark and petroleum coke (which replaces an older natural gas-fired boiler), making the system more economical as the price of natural gas rises. By replacing the gas-fired boiler with the more flexible bark-and-coke-fired boiler, the client anticipates reducing overall purchased power by 90 percent, and reducing natural gas consumption for steam generation by 70 percent. Additionally, the two extraction steam pressure levels produced will be used in the papermaking processes. Dresser-Rand Circle #308
