Doosan signs deal to build nuclear reactors for China

25 April 2007 - Doosan Heavy Industries, South Korea's largest manufacturer of power generators, said it had signed a deal to build nuclear plant facilities in China.

The company said it has reached a provisional deal with US-based Westinghouse Electric to build two nuclear reactors and four steam generators at two nuclear power plants to be constructed in Sanmen and two others to be built in Haiyang.

The deal is valued at least $350m, Doosan Heavy said. The nuclear reactors and steam generators will be delivered by 2012 to Westinghouse, it said.

Doosan said the deal would help the company tap into the Chinese nuclear power industry. China is seeking to build 31 nuclear plants by 2020.
