20 April 2007 - Alstom is to supply power island equipment to a 460 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant being built in Nhon Trach district, southern Dong Nai Province, near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The KA13E2-2 multi-shaft combined cycle plant configuration to be installed at Nhon Trach includes two conventional GT13E2 gas turbines, two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), one COMAX steam turbine and three air-cooled TOPAIR turbogenerators. Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation (LILAMA), is building the 460 MW plant for Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation (PetroVietnam).
The project will be carried out in two phases, with the plant operating in simple cycle first to support the high-energy demand during the dry season in 2008. In the second phase, further equipment will be added for full combined-cycle operation.
Once operational in March 2008, the 460 MW plant will be capable of supplying 2.5bn kWh annually to the national grid.
