Pakistan intends to import 1000 MW electricity from Iran

10 April 2007 - Iran are expected to agree a deal with Pakistan to supply her with 1000 MW of power to meet its growing power demand.

According to official sources, the two sides will discuss feasibility of the project, rate, transmission line way and timeframe at a meeting this week. Besides supply of additional 1000 MW power from Iran to Pakistan, the experts from both sides will discuss to promote cooperation and exchange of experience and expertise regarding construction of dams and their safety aspect for mutual benefit of both the countries.

Pakistan will offer Iran to invest in water and power sector.

Minister for Water and Power, Liaquat Ali Jatoi has reached Iran with high level delegation including officials from Ministry of Water and Power and WAPDA to have meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Parviz Fattah.

Jatoi added that his government has adopted liberal policies and offered many incentives to foreign investors in various areas.
