20 March 2007--Meridium Inc. said it will provide Xcel Energy with software and services to analyze performance data for up to 80 generating units at more than 60 sites.

The software will help engineers analyze the cost of lost megawatt hours due to generation unavailability, to reduce cost and equipment downtime, to shift work from corrective to preventative maintenance and to improve reliability work processes.

This deployment follows a successful pilot implementation at Xcel Energy's Cherokee Station generation plant near Denver (see Power Engineering, August 2006, page 10 for project details).
