Superconductor deal for Zenergy

12 March 2007 - Zenergy Power has announced an exclusive deal to develop high-temperature superconductor generators with Converteam, the former Alstom Power Conversion business.

The five-year deal will see the UK's Zenergy exclusively supply high temperature wires and coils for all Converteam's commercial activities for wind power and small hydropower projects. Zenergy is one of a few companies developing second generation high-temperature superconductor wire.

Converteam, bought by Barclays Private Equity France in late 2005, has cited renewable energy as a promising market.
