Endesa acquires 275 MW interconnection capacity in France/Italy tender

7 March 2007 - Endesa has acquired 275 MW of the interconnection capacity between France and Italy put out to tender by the Italian and French transmission network operators, GRTN and RTE.

This acquisition, which corresponds to the Spanish utility's specific capacity requirements, represents 26.6 per cent of the total capacity put out to tender by both operators in March. The final base price was €31.23 ($40.93)/MWh.

In this auction, which took place after the decision taken at the end of 2004 by the French grid operator RTE to auction off part of the interconnection capacity between Italy and France, the total base capacity offered was 1034 MW in March.
