Thailand to study feasibility for nuclear plant

5 March 2007 - The National Energy Policy Council of Thailand has decided to form a committee to conduct the feasibility study for building a nuclear power plant in Thailand.

Korb Krittayakeeron, senior advisor of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), will chair the committee, the Energy Minister Piyasvasti Amaranand.

The committee will study if it is viable to construct a nuclear power plant in Thailand and prepare all legal measures to accommodate the construction, the minister said.

Piyasvasti said it will take seven years to study and prepare for the construction while it takes another six years to build the plant.
