22 February 2007 -- CH2M HILL has been selected by Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) to partner with Babcock Power Environmental Inc. in a teaming agreement for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a new emissions control system for the Deerhaven Unit 2 coal-fired power plant in Gainesville, Florida.
The new emissions control system includes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, dry flue gas desulfurization and a fabric filter. Total project cost under contract is nearly $119 million.
The retrofit project is underway with engineering and equipment procurement. Construction start-up is planned for July. The emissions upgrade is scheduled to be fully operational in May 2009.
