20 February 2007 -- Alstom has signed a contract with TransCanada Corp. and Halton Hills Power Partners to supply two heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) and one 300 MW steam turbine generator for the Halton Hills Generating Station, a combined cycle gas-fired plant located near Toronto, Canada.

The new power plant will feature Alstom's triple-pressure reheat optimised for cycling and constructability (OCCTM) HRSGs. Alstom said the OCCTM's operational flexibility and daily cycling service allows plant owners to match the amount of electricity generated at different times of the day to actual demand.

Alstom's standard frame type steam turbine generator is designed for combined cycle applications. In alignment with the output of the HRSG, the three-casing steam turbine is connected to an air-cooled generator.

The plant is scheduled to come online in 2010. Canada Ltd. and Aker Kvaerner Songer Canada Ltd. were awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the new plant.
