TEi to supply condensers for new TXU coal plant

20 February 2007 -- Thermal Engineering International Inc. (TEi), a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc., has recently received a contract to supply the condensers for TXU's 1,720 MW lignite-fired Oak Grove power plant near Hearne, Texas. Fluor Corp. will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the two new units.

TEi's scope includes the design and fabrication of two twin shell, single pressure condensers at the Oak Grove 1 & 2 units. In an earlier announcement, TEi's sister company Babcock Power Environmental was awarded the air quality control systems for the Oak Grove facility.

Oak Grove is part of TXU's larger building initiative, including the construction of nine other coal units. Pending approval by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality, TXU anticipates Oak Grove's date of commercial operation to be 2009.
