Skanska to build $136m thermo plant in Brazil

7 February 2007 - Sweden's Skanska AB has announced that it has won an order worth $136m from Brazilian oil company Petrobras to build a thermoelectric power plant in Cubatao, 60 km from San Paulo.

The contract is for the construction of a 220 MW power plant, including detailed engineering, procurement, construction and assembly, commissioning and start-up assistance at the plant.
The project will start immediately and is due for completion in mid-2009.

Skanska's $136m order equates to 50 per cent of the overall contract. Its partner company in the Skanska-led consortium is the Brazilian construction company Camargo Correa.
