AEP seeks bids to serve a portion of Ohio load

5 February 2007 -- American Electric Power Service Corp., a subsidiary of American Electric Power (AEP), is seeking proposals for full requirements energy and capacity on behalf of the company's Columbus Southern Power (CSP) unit to serve the electricity demands of approximately 29,000 customers that CSP acquired from Monongahela Power in late 2005.

The request for proposals (RFP) seeks full requirements energy and capacity to serve these customers' projected peak demand of 275 MW from June 1, 2007 through Dec. 31, 2008, and seeks alternate proposals for the capacity component to continue through May 31, 2009. The RFP segregates the load into five tranches, each representing 20 percent of the full requirements of this group of customers. AEP intends to qualify interested bidders and award the five lowest price tranche bids.

The RFP, Full Requirements Service Agreement (FSA), credit and qualification documents and other bid documents are available at the following website http://www.aepohio.com/go/rfp. Expressions of interest are due Feb. 9. Credit and qualification documents are due Feb. 16 and all proposals are due March 5.
