ABB wins $56m order from Indian steelmaker

January 9, 2007 - Power transmission equipment maker ABB has received orders worth $56m from the JSW Group.

ABB is supplying a range of power and automation solutions for 2x300 MW power generation facilities in Bellary, in the state of Karnataka, and for plants located at Vasind near Mumbai and Salem, in Tamil Nadu. They include the electrical balance of plant) technology to improve the performance and reliability of power delivery, for the Bellary installation.

JSW aims to increase its steel capacity to 6.8 million tonnes per annum from 3.8 million. The project will be executed in phases and is expected to be completed by mid-2008, it said.
