ConocoPhillips and EnCana complete oil tie-up

4 January 2007 - US oil firm ConocoPhillips and EnCana Corporation of Canada announced on Wednesday that they had completed a deal to create an integrated North American oil business.

The tie-up will consist of two 50/50 operating partnerships, one Canadian upstream partnership and one US downstream partnership. The upstream partnership will comprise EnCana's Foster Creek and Chistina Lake projects located in the eastern flank of the Athabasca oil sands in northeast Alberta.

The downstream partnership will consist of ConocoPhillips' Wood River and Borger refineries located in Roxana, Illinois and Borger, Texas respectively.
