Oman tender

The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (SAOC) has today launched the prequalification process for the tendering of a 400 MW independent water and power project (IWPP) in Salalah.

The project, located 1000 km south of Muscat in the Taqah region, is expected to be on-line by the summer of 2009. SAOC has invited interested parties to submit indication of interest by January 17, 2007.

The Request for Proposals for the IWPP will be released to bidders shortlisted from the prequalification process during the first or second quarter of 2007. SAOC will then select the preferred bidder later in the year.

The project will comprise the design, engineering, construction, development, financing, ownership, operation and maintenance of the IWPP of around 400 MW and 68.2 million litres per day.
