Endesa begins work on two CCGTs at Emile Huchet in France

29 December 2006 -- Endesa announced that its affiliate, Endesa Europa, through its subsidiary SNET, has taken the first steps towards construction of two combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT) in France with an installed capacity of 400 MW each, by opening the tender offer period for choosing the contractor to build these plants. The two plants are slated to come online in the first half of 2009.

The two power stations will cost 400 million euros and will be built in the northeastern region of France on land at the Emile Huchet plant owned by SNET. The project will increase the French subsidiary's current installed capacity by 30 percent.

At the same time, a 35km gas pipeline will be built for 24 million euros, linking GRT Gaz's main gas pipeline to the plant. SNET and Gaz de France Transport have signed a contract to build this gas pipeline, which will come on stream in December 2008.
