8 December 2006 -- Alstom has signed a 10-year service agreement with Colombian independent power producer Termobarranquilla to maintain key gas turbine parts at its combined-cycle power plant in Barranquilla on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.
The contract is for both planned and unplanned maintenance services for the five GT11N2 gas turbines and covers primarily the supply and maintenance for all hot gas path components such as turbine and combustion chamber parts.
The agreement also includes the upgrade of the five gas turbines to GT11N2 XL technology -- a package of lifetime extension measures designed to increase plant availability and decrease maintenance expenses.
This contract is a follow-up to the previous long-term service agreement signed with Termobarranquilla before the commissioning of the plant in 1997.
Termobarranquilla S.A. E.S.P. is one of the largest Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Latin America, owned by Colombian and U.S. companies.
