14 November 2006 -- The UK's Kier Plant has received 10 new JCB generators for use on its nationwide standby and primary power applications. The generators are the first models purchased by Kier since JCB entered the power generation market with the launch of 42 model range earlier this year.
The company, part of one of Europe's largest construction firms -- the Kier Group -- has purchased three 60kVA G63Q models; two 130 kVA G144Q models; two 160 kVA G175Q models; one 200kVA G220Q model and two 300 kVA G330Q models. They give Kier Plant a combined electricity production capability of 1,248 kW.
The generators have been put straight to work and are operating in a range of applications across Kier Plant's UK network. Current projects include: a standby power installation at the South London prison HMP Highdown; powering Kier's site accommodation at projects across the country including Swindon Hospital and Edinburgh; and the provision of power to large tower cranes and self-erecting tower cranes.
