Wärtsilä selected to supply power plant to Azerbaijan

16 October 2006 -- AzerEnerji, the national energy company of Azerbaijan, and Wärtsilä are in the process of finalizing a new contract for a 300 MW multi-fuel power plant to be located in Sangachal, 50 km south of the capital Baku. This new plant will consist of eighteen Wärtsilä 50DF generating sets. The signing of the final contract is expected to take place within October.

In 2005 AzerEnerji ordered five power plants, totalling 450 MW. The first two have already been taken into commercial operation and the remaining three plants are scheduled to be commissioned before the end of this year.
