BTEC Turbines buys 1,000 MW in power assets

12 October 2006 -- Houston-based BTEC Turbines recently acquired the assets of two power plants in the southeastern United States, consisting of 1,000 MW of new and refurbished gas turbines and associated equipment.

BTEC said this inventory of large industrial turbines has increased the company's capacity to build power plants more quickly and cost-effectively than the industry standard.

The acquisition includes eight GE Frame 7EA and six Frame 7E simple cycle power islands. BTEC CEO Mike Boyce said the equipment enables the company to "do anything from supplying turbines to performing EPC of the power island or the entire plant in less time and at a lower cost than most of our competitors."

BTEC specializes in turnkey power plants, remanufactured gas turbine packages and gas turbine package upgrades.
