5 October 2006 -- Wisconsin-based Madison Gas and Electric Co. said it will buy 18 wind turbines and other equipment for $46 million for a new wind-powered electric power plant to be constructed in Iowa. The company is a unit of MGE Energy Inc.

MGE said it will finance the cost of the new plant through short- and long-term debt, operating cash flow and capital contributions from its parent company. Construction on the facility is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2007.
