Boiler fire reported at NRG's Limestone station

2 October 2006 -- A fire was reported at NRG Energy Inc.'s 766-MW Unit 2 plant in Jewett, TX, according to Reuters news agency. NRG told Texas regulators that a fire in the boiler switch gear occurred on Sept. 30 at the company's Limestone generating station.

The coal-fired Limestone station has two generating units, the 836 MWUnit 1 and the 766-MW Unit 2, both about 20 years old.
