27 September 2006 -- Electricité de France's National Nuclear Equipment Centre has awarded CORYS T.E.S.S., a joint subsidiary of Tractebel Engineering (SUEZ), and AREVA TA, the contract to supply an engineering simulator for the French EPR reactor (European Pressurized Reactor), for which construction began in May 2006 at Flamanville.
This contract, at over 10 million euros, will supply three simulators, two to be installed in EDF engineering centers (at Montrouge and Lyon) and a third to be commissioned directly at the Flamanville training centre. CORYS T.E.S.S. said this will be the first time that the modeling of a system in such detail will be used to assist the general design of a new nuclear power plant.
