SCHOTT celebrates opening of solar receiver plant

26 September 2006 -- SCHOTT AG inaugurated a production plant for manufacturing solar receivers at the company's site in Mitterteich, Bavaria, today.

"Receivers are a key component of the solar thermal parabolic trough power plants, which will become an important source of power in the future," said Professor Dr.-Ing. Udo Ungeheuer, Chairman of the Board of Management of SCHOTT AG.

The company has invested 15 million euros in the new plant and has been manufacturing solar receivers since the beginning of August. SCHOTT has already received orders to supply receivers for the solar power plants "Nevada Solar One" in Nevada, U.S., and in Andalusia (Spain) that are currently under construction.
