Ontario Power takes first step in Darlington nuclear expansion

25 September 2006 -- Ontario Power Generation formally started the federal approvals process Friday with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) by filing an application for a Site Preparation License for new nuclear units at its Darlington Nuclear site.

Now that the license application has been submitted, the CNSC will review the application and will determine the environmental assessment requirements.

Ontario Power Generation Inc. is a provincial government-owned electricity generation company that primarily serves the Toronto metropolitan area.
