MHI receives FPL order for six gas turbines

20 September 2006 -- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. has received an order for six M501G gas turbines from Florida Power & Light (FPL) for its West County Energy Center project in Florida. The order was received through Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas, Inc. (MPSA), MHI's power systems operation base in the U.S.

The six gas turbines on order will be components of the West County Energy Center's two natural-gas-fired gas turbine combined-cycle (GTCC) power generation units; total output will be 2,400 MW, with units 1 and 2 each producing 1,200 MW.

Each GTCC power generation unit is to consist of three M501G gas turbines, 250 MW each, a steam turbine and four generators. The two units are planned to go on-line in June 2009 and June 2010, respectively.
