B.C., Alaska talking power

18 September 2006 -- The Canadian province of British Columbia reportedly is talking to Alaskan state officials about selling the state hydroelectric power in conjunction with a plan to extend electricity to the Yukon border.

Many new mines are in the northwest section of the province and require electricity to move to production, reports said. The Tahltan nation also is interested in seeing power in their region and Canadian government officials are negotiating with them for access over their property.
