Wärtsilä awarded O&M contract for Brazilian power plant

30 August 2006 -- Wärtsilä Corp. was awarded an operations and maintenance (O&M) contract by the Brazilian company Rio Amazonas Energia SA this month for the 83 MWe power plant in the city of Manaus in northern Brazil. The plant, which is nearing completion, comprises five Wärtsilä 18V46 generating sets. It is due for delivery in October 2006.

The O&M contract will cover all aspects of the operations and maintenance of the plant, providing the plant owner with the best available technical support, an experienced operator and fixed O&M costs. The O&M contract has an initial term of five years and is renewable for a further five years.
