Active Power systems chosen for Asian airport

2 August 2006 - Active Power, manufacturer and distributor of backup power solutions announced Tuesday that it will provide 4 MW of power systems to support the air bridge infrastructure and service two main terminals at a major international airport being constructed in Asia.

The airport, planned initially to service over 30 million passengers, is expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year. This transaction, which is in excess of $1m, is expected to ship in the third quarter of this year.

"Active Power is proud to have been selected to play such a critical role in this project," said Ian Bitterlin, Vice President of AP's EMEA Operations. "Our CleanSource UPS product is uniquely suited for this application because of the inherent reliability and efficiency of a flywheel-based system. Our product delivers tremendous power density, putting twice the power in half the space, this was a critical decision making factor for our client who had limited plant room space available and insisted upon a battery-free solution for their power needs."
