Syria covers Lebanon power shortage

27 July 2006 - Syria is supplying electricity to Lebanon 24 hours a day with 140 MW at peak hours, director of the Public Institution for the Generation and Transport of Electricity Mohammed Abu Jaish said Sunday.

The Ministry of Electricity continues to supply Lebanon with power following the destruction of power generation plants and other infrastructure in Lebanon, Jaish said in a press statement.

Syria is keen on providing Lebanon with all its electricity needs through transformers in Tripoli on the Lebanese side, he added.
