26 June 2006 -- ADA-ES, Inc. announced that it has been awarded a contract, along with ALSTOM Power, Inc., to supply a mercury emission control system for a new power plant being built in Arkansas.
LS Power is building a new plant that will produce 680 MW of power and burn sub-bituminous coal from the Powder River Basin area of Wyoming. According to ADA-ES, the mercury emission control system will use powdered activated carbon to remove mercury from the flue gas of the power plant. ADA-ES anticipates delivery of the system during the fourth quarter of 2007.
"We expect additional contracts to be granted later this year based upon the large number of proposal requests for this technology to help utilities meet the new mercury emissions regulations being promulgated by various individual states as well as the federal government," said Dr. Michael Durham, President of ADA-ES.
