Bell tolls for DONG employees

4 May 2006 - Danish power company DONG Energy has today announced 80 redundancies as a result of restructuring of its power generation activities and the merging of the power station interests of Elsam and Energi E2 that it acquired in February 2005.

DONG said that the reorganization process was approaching completion and that the new structure would create a strong business capable of competing in the northern European market.

Those employees affected by the redundancies will be notified by the end of May.

DONG said that synergies would be realised through the combination of the power generation businesses and that a new unified culture would be created. A process of optimization and standardization of business and work processes, automation, discontinuation of activities and organizational developments was underway.

DONG said that 40 working groups have been involved in the change process involving the participation of 400 of the business area's existing 2000 employees.
