Korean plant uprates seven GE F turbines

19 April 2006 - One of the largest gas turbine uprate contracts ever awarded to GE Energy has just been completed at the SeoInchon combined cycle power plant in South Korea.

The project to uprate seven gas turbines will result in a 180 MW increase in output for the facility, which is owned by Korea Western Power Co., Ltd. (KOWEPO). The agreement covered the upgrade of the turbine, auxiliary equipment and controls for each power train.

The SeoInchon plant produces power for the Korean grid, and is part of a 4000 MW complex in the city of Inchon, the world's largest aggregation of GE F technology.

The uprate project involved removing the MS7001F gas turbines that form the core of the seven existing combined cycle power trains, and replacing them with seven MS7001FA+e machines. GE's 7FA+e gas turbines represent the latest evolution in GE's F technology.
