Alstom buy into Chinese boiler producer

18 April 2006 - Alstom has taken a controlling 51 per cent share in Chinese boilermaker Wuhan Boiler Co.

Alstom (China) Co., Ltd. a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alstom announced the transaction today. The Chinese boiler producer is listed on the B-share market for overseas investors.

According to the report, Alstom (China) and Wuhan Boiler Group Co., Ltd. signed a share acquisition agreement on April 14, 2006, with Alstom (China) to acquire 151.47 million corporate B-shares of Wuhan Boiler Co., Ltd for 329,494,541 yuan ($41.1m).

The acquisition is a strategic investment aiming at entering and developing China's boiler industry through the move, stated Alstom (China).

After the acquisition is complete, Alston will renovate Wuhan Boiler Co., Ltd., making it an important boiler production base of Alston worldwide, the only boiler production base in China and one of the leading boiler suppliers in Asia and the world, said Alston (China).
