11 April 2006 - Konarka Technologies, developers of Power Plastic that converts light to energy, said Monday that CEO Howard Berke will be a featured speaker at the POWER-GEN Renewable Energy conference as part of the keynote session, Leadership Perspectives on Renewable Energy," on Wednesday, April 12, 2006.
The session tales place at 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV. POWER-GEN is owned and produced by PennWell Corp and is co-sponsored by ACORE (American Council On Renewable Energy).
The renewable energy industry is going through a tremendous period of change and maturity, transitioning from an R&D mode to a commercial mode with continuing technology advancements. During this keynote session, the panel of leaders in industry, finance, professional services and government will share their views on the direction of things, key issues to be addressed and outlook on future progress. The session is co-moderated by the presidents of the renewable energy leadership organizations for the United States and Europe.
Howard Berke is chairman, chief executive officer and co-founder of Konarka Technologies. He has nearly 30 years of hands-on management experience launching, building and leading both public and private technology companies. He advises start-up companies and entrepreneurs in a wide range of fields including medical devices, biotech informatics, software, networking, telecom and energy technology. Berke serves as Konarka's delegate to the World Economic Forum's Technology Pioneers. He sits on the board of directors for the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), and has guest lectured on entrepreneurship at Yale, Harvard, MIT and elsewhere throughout the world. Berke received his MBA from the University of Chicago and his BA from Yale University.
