Von Roll to modernize German waste to energy plant

13 January 2006 - Swiss company Von Roll Inova has been awarded a €36m ($43m) contract to modernize a three train waste to energy plant in Bamberg, Germany.

The contract will see the Austrian Energy & Environment subsidiary rehabilitate the combustion section as well as the steam generators in all three of the waste to energy plant's process trains.

Originally commissioned in 1981, the plant will continue to operate during the modernization process, which will be implemented in stages over four years.

Klaus Zink, CEO of Von Roll Inova, said: "In countries already well-equipped with thermal waste treatment plants, such as Germany and Switzerland, the replacement and retrofit market holds great future potential."
