4 January 2006 - German wind turbine manufacturer, REpower Systems, has projected that it will install a further 50 wind turbines in 2006 than it did in 2005, increasing its sales forecast from €400m ($480m) to approximately €450m.
In 2005, the company surpassed its installation target by one, bringing 201 new turbines into effect, a significant increase on 2004's total of 66.
The company said 2005's total of installed turbines would have been higher but for inclement weather and supply bottlenecks for key components, such as gearboxes and rotor shafts. These factors contributed to the commissioning of 25 new turbines being pushed back into 2006.
The highest sales for REpower in 2005 were recorded in France, with total installed output of new installations at 129.5 MW, followed by Germany, 101 MW, UK, 34 MW, Italy, 30 MW, and Portugal, 20 MW. The other turbines were installed in Japan, China, Australia, Belgium and the Czech Republic.
