13 October 2005 - One of China's largest power producers has reported a year on year increase in power generated of over 35 per cent for the first three quarters of the year.
Huaneng Power International announced that by the end of September it had produced a total of 110.956 billion kWh, an increase of 37.3 per cent compared to the same three quarter period in 2004.
According to the company, the rise in its generation output was due to the acquisition of new power plants and new units at some of its existing fleet of stations. The expansion is an effort to keep up with the rising power demand in a country experiencing rapid economic growth.
Huaneng develops, constructs, operates and manages large power plants across China, with a total generation capacity of over 21 GW.
