20 September 2005 - Institutional investors from the US and Europe are to provide $20m to help the development of renewable energy in Central America.
The non-governmental organization, Eco Capital Latin America announced that the Central American Renewable Energy and Facilities for Clean Production (CAREC) fund would be available later this year.
It is believed that 70 per cent of the fund will be used for creating clean energy generation facilities with the remainder being shared between energy efficiency projects, enhancing clean energy production at existing facilities and providing technical assistance.
