IES sets out investment plans for Perm region

31 March 2005 - Russian energy investment group Integrated Energy Systems (IES) plans to invest 129m ($4.6m) rubles in the construction of electric grid facilities in Russia's Perm Region in 2005-2007; around 50m rubles out of this amount is planned to be allocated during the current year.

The company's total investment spending under the sales development programme amounted to 16.1 million rubles last year. In addition, the company built cable pole lines and transformer substations in four towns (Vereshchagino, Kungur, Gornozavodsk, and Ocher) in the total amount of 15.4m rubles.

It is planned to allocate 92.7m rubles for the maintenance of municipal electric grid facilities in 2005; more than half of this amount will be used for overhaul repair. This will allow the actual electric power losses to be reduced from 28.3 per cent to 24 per cent in 2005; and by 2007, to 1 per cent.

In 2004, the maintenance of electric grid facilities cost more than 60m, and overhaul repair costs accounted for a share of around 23.5m rubles.

An open meeting at the Region Administration took place on 29 March and was attended by Deputy Governor of the Perm Region Oleg Zhdanov; heads of municipal formations, including those where IES - Prikamye has already began operations; Deputy Director General of IES - Multiutilities Ilya Ponomaryov; Deputy Director General for Reform of Housing Services and Public Utilities Vladimir Salikhov; Director General of Energy Company of Municipal Formations - Perm (a management company of IES-Prikamye) Boris Dultsev.

According to Oleg Zhdanov, the development of joint projects in partnership with IES - Prikamye confirms that the Administration of the Perm Region follows the strategic course aiming to attract serious private companies to the public utility sector.

Integrated Energy Systems supplies electricity to consumers located in 11 municipal formations of the Perm Region. IES - Prikamye Open Joint-Stock Company, a subsidiary of Integrated Energy Systems, was established in March 2004. Its cofounders included Energy Company of Municipal Formations - Perm, Oblkommunenergo State Regional Unitary Energy Enterprise, and several municipal unitary enterprises.
