On-site hydrogen generation to cool St. Clair

22 December 2004 - Plug Power Inc. is to provide on-site hydrogen generation to Michigan's Saint Clair power plant in order to cool six generator units at Detroit Edison's facility.

Detroit Edison director of Fossil Generation Performance, Guy Harris, said: "This is a great opportunity for Detroit Edison to test and prove on-site hydrogen generation technology in a demanding, industrial application."

The Gensite hydrogen generator Plug Power is to install has already been shipped to the plant and is expected to be fully operational early next year. The plant produces 1400 MW of power, which serves 2.1 million customers in southeast Michigan.
