9 November 2004 - Wheelabrator Air Pollution Control Inc. has been awarded two contracts by We Energies to supply turnkey fabric filter systems at the Presque Isle power plant, Michigan, USA.
The first contract will see Wheelabrator, part of Aquilex Services Corp., design, supply and erect two Jet Vip Intermediate Pressure Pulse Jet fabric filter systems for Units Five and Six. The scope of the contract also includes new I.D fans, systems ductwork and electrical equipment. The two baghouses will control particulate emissions from two of the plant's 90 MW coal fired utility boilers.
Under the terms of the second contract, Wheelabrator will design, supply and erect one Jet Vip for the combined flue gas streams of Units Seven, Eight and Nine. This baghouse will be installed and operated as part of a cooperative agreement between We Energies and the US Department of Energy demonstration of Toxecon technology. Toxecon is an EPRI patented technology for mercury and multi pollutant control.
Construction of the fabric filter system on Unit Five is scheduled to begin in March 2005 and Unit Six in May 2005. Completion is projected for June 2005 and August 2005, respectively. Construction of the system in Units Seven, Eight and Nine is scheduled to begin in March 2005 and to be completed in October 2005.
